Well, darn
No takers on the Dark Elves. I've reposted at a lower price, but I think I'll focus more on trying to get something else finished and up for auction. I have some dragons from the Bones 3 kickstarter. Maybe a big model will be more enticing than a bunch of small ones?

They're HEEERE!
My Kickstarter rewards from Reaper arrived in today's mail. I have developed quite a pile of these now, since so many from the previous Bones Kickstarter are still unpainted in my basement!

Reaper Bones 3
I got word from Reaper that they finally have all the Kickstarter minis from China. That means they'll be shipping rewards soon. Looks like I need to get back at the ol' painting table.
One of the troubles I've had with the Bones minis is the hydrophobic nature of the plastic. this, coupled with its dislike of some primers, has made the painting slower than it should be. Fortunately, I found a post where it mentioned that Army Painter spray primer works well. So I tried it on a Bones chimera and sure enough! A nice even basecoat.
Onwards!

Lookee! I put paint on a thing!
With a slew of minis from the Reaper Bones 3 Kickstarter due to arrive in a couple months, I figure I need to up my rate of mini-completion to better than an annual schedule. So I put brush to paint and managed to get the last barrow wight from the LOTR/Moria project done. (Yay me!) The base is garbage. I may upgrade that later, but at least it's table-ready for now.
I always feel silly when I get out of the painting habit. It's something I do for fun, not a job. Hopefully I'll make some inroads on all the Bones minis I still have from before!

Advancing the cause
A while ago, I backed the Hammer & Forge kickstarter from Ganesha Games. Part of the rewards was a pdf of the Advanced Song of Blades and Heroes rules. I just downloaded them the other day and started looking through them. So far, it looks like a pretty fun set. I'm not 100% sure I don't still prefer the basic rules for ease of use, but most things are fairly modular and well-explained and the rule sets are pretty compatible. There is also a free handy primer pdf explaining the differences between the rules and how they differ. I recommend checking it out. The pdfs are available on wargamevault.com

Bones 3: Electric... Christmas Tree?
Or whatever.
ANYway! I pledged for the Bones 3 Kickstarter this AM. So around this time next year I should have another crazy influx of minis. Maybe my goal should be to get through the Bones I have?

So, umm, more minis
Back in the summer, I had worked out a deal with a fellow poster on Dragonsfoot whereby I would be purchasing his Reaper Bones 2 Kickstarter minis from him. He was keeping the expansion set and I was getting what came with his $100 pledge. They arrived last night and WOW! By my count it's over 150 minis; and not just simple sculpts! I'll have to post a pic of the haul, but I don't think I'll be buying any new figs for a bit.
My plan is to try using some of the bugbear or gnoll minis that have identical sculpts for a speed-painting video.
