The ebay auctions are done. I've got about $250 to spend on the in-screen table construction. The power tools have arrived as well.
I also ordered a LED photo tent so I can take some better pictures of minis if and when I finish any! Maybe I will try it out on the bugbear I finished at the painting club.

Actual mini painting update.
One of the sets of minis I sifted through when auctioning some Reaper Bones was a pile of lizardmen. The sculpts tickled me enough I set them aside to paint myself. There are about 15 of them and I also kept a Reptus leader type as well for their boss.
I sat down for an hour on Sunday with an XActo knife and managed to clean off about a half a dozen. I am hoping that as the weather FINALLY starts to warm up around here I might be ready to prime them. I know technically Bones don't need priming, but I figure on using TAP green as a basecoat spray.
I'll post some WIP pics when there is something to show.

Round two on eBay
I hate to keep using this blog to shill, but I needed to use some of the previous eBay money to pay off Garycon expenses (so it's related, right?)
I just posted some more gaming stuff (mostly books, but a few minis), if anyone is interested.
I'm buying the tools next week and then I will begin the WIP series on building the gaming table.

Some success
The auctions went well (only two items did not sell). Everything has shipped out and now I'm awaiting the Paypal funds to be made available (eBay holds the $ until the transactions are all completed).
Once I have the moola, I will buy the tools and begin the gaming table build. I will try to do a series of WIP posts with picutres.
I went to the painting club yesterday and while I did work on Marthrangul like I planned, I did actually paint an entire Bones bugbear start to finish. Just tabletop, rank & file quality; but it's a painted mini, dammit!
The new glasses seemed to help a bit. At least it seemed that my back was tired before my eyes were.

eBay funding a new project.
Long time, no post!
I haven't painted a lot recently. Frankly, part of it is my eyesight. I have had a harder time seeing the details up close. So a trip to the eye doctor is scheduled for later this week and I will likely get new spectacles.
There is a project that I wish to do as well. In fact, it's one of the reasons I am eBaying a bunch of Bones minis.
A while back, I posted about an LED screen tabletop frame I built for minis and maps. I have wanted to upgrade this to a new gaming table with the screen flush and embedded in the surface. You can see an example of this kind of table in this video. I probably won't make this exact configuration, but it's the same idea.
My hope is to make enough scratch to buy the materials and maybe even upgrade a few power tools I could use for the project. The auctions end over Easter weekend, so even if I make enough cash for everything I probably will not actually get to buy stuff and/or work on the table until at least the following weekend.

Well, darn
No takers on the Dark Elves. I've reposted at a lower price, but I think I'll focus more on trying to get something else finished and up for auction. I have some dragons from the Bones 3 kickstarter. Maybe a big model will be more enticing than a bunch of small ones?

Plan Enacted
Two things that I actually managed to do!
I finished the #$@%! Dark Elves!!
And I posted an eBay auction for them! All part of my attempt to raise some money for Garycon costs.

I have...
Hola! I haven't been posting much because, frankly, I haven't been painting much. I am working to change that, though. One way to self-motivate is financial.
Just about the only con I attend is Garycon in March. I always have a great time, but it is too far to drive and Lake Geneva is far enough from the Milwaukee airport that I usually need to rent a car. I can generally split this and the hotel room's cost with a local friend who also flies out to attend, but it's still several hundred dollars altogether. I am working hard to reduce my overall debt, so slapping it all on a credit card is not my preferred method.
In an effort to defray the costs, I am going to try to paint up some of my old and new minis and sell them fairly cheaply on eBay. Just tabletop quality. But people have been known to pay a few bucks to get a pack of orcs for their table. It will also motivate me a bit to sit and paint.
Last night I pulled the last couple GW Dark Elves out of a drawer and started working on them. I got through one spearman, but there is still a crossbowman left. Once those are painted, based, and sealed I will list the regiment (complete with standard bearer, musician, and hero) for auction. I see this as a test case. It also will help me get into the habit again (I hope). Like the original purpose of this blog, it helps me to have specific goals.
I doubt I'll paint my way to paying for all of Garycon with sales, but if I can put a dent in the bill, I'll call it a win.
